Peptide Compatibility

Which compounds use this solvent

BAC water is the default reconstitution solvent for all peptides that dissolve at neutral pH. For peptides prone to aggregation at neutral pH (IGF-1 LR3, AOD-9604, MOTS-c), use Acetic Acid 0.6% instead.

Preservative Science & Research Protocol

Solvent science, reconstitution protocol, and storage

Preservative Science

Benzyl alcohol at 0.9% concentration disrupts bacterial cell membranes through lipid bilayer interaction, providing broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection without denaturing dissolved peptides. This mechanism has been validated across 50+ years of pharmaceutical use and is codified in the United States Pharmacopeia as the standard for multi-dose injectable preparations.

Research Protocol
  1. Sanitize rubber stoppers of both vials with 70% isopropyl alcohol swabs. Air dry 10 seconds.
  2. Calculate reconstitution volume based on desired concentration (typical: 1–2 mL per peptide vial).
  3. Draw calculated volume of BAC water using a sterile insulin syringe (25–29G).
  4. Inject slowly against the inside wall of the peptide vial — never directly onto lyophilized powder.
  5. Allow 1–2 minutes for dissolution. If needed, gently roll between palms. Never shake.
  6. Verify solution is clear and colorless before use. Discard if cloudy or particulate.
  7. Label vial with reconstitution date and volume. Refrigerate at 2–8°C immediately.
Storage Requirements
Unopened15–30°C (59–86°F), protect from light — 36-month shelf life
After First PunctureUse within 28 days — benzyl alcohol efficacy guaranteed
Reconstituted PeptidesRefrigerate at 2–8°C (36–46°F), protect from light
Important
Do NOT freeze — freezing degrades benzyl alcohol preservative and causes phase separation
Discard if solution appears cloudy, discolored, or contains particles
Use a fresh sterile needle for each vial access
Not for use by subjects with known benzyl alcohol sensitivity
